Although the Kimberley Coast is very remote, there are many historical and cultural sites to be explored. From lonely graves from pearlers dated 1889 to the remnants of the failed Camden Harbour Settlement in 1864 and the engraved Mermaid tree at Careening Bay from 1820, we appreciate the hardship of previous visitors to our treacherous coast.
Dreamtime rock art can be seen along the Kimberley Coast and gives an insight into the lives and beliefs of the aboriginal people who inhabited this coast. The ancient gallery at Raft Point tells the story of the Great Fish Hunt. We insist that guests do not touch any art work as it is of vital importance to the integrity of Aboriginal culture and future generations.
